11 commands

The real UI, rebuilt for the web. Click a command.

The problem

You've typed this before.

Kill the port. Start the server. Pull, install, restart Docker. The same twenty commands, every day. Or make them a button:

Output appears here.

keystrokes saved: 0

~/.zsh_history

What it does

Small app. Surprisingly handy.

Everything here is interactive.

$ Deploy staging

Live output, in color

Output streams in as it happens, ANSI colors and all. Make the text bigger, copy it, or run it again with one click.

$ Dev serveracme-web
$ Run testsacme-web
$ Docker upinfra
$ Tail API logsinfra
$ Brew upgrademac

Spaces for every project

Group commands by project. Each space can have its own working directory.

lsof -ti tcp:{{port}} | xargs kill -9
runs as lsof -ti tcp:$QCMD_port
with QCMD_port="3000"

Variables

Write {{port}} once, change it any time. Values are passed as environment variables, never pasted into your script as code.

3 running

Run many at once

Dev server, log tail and a build, all running side by side. A badge shows what's live; Stop all ends it.

npm run dev51022
└─node next dev51023
└─next-server (v16)51031
└─turbopack worker51040

Stops the whole tree

Stop ends the command and every process it spawned. No more zombie dev servers squatting on :3000.

click, then look away

You'll know when it's done

Close the popover and get on with your day. A notification tells you when a command finishes, or fails.

Playground

Type it once. Click it forever.

Run anything in this little shell. When you like a command, turn it into a button, then send it to the menu bar demo up top.

zsh — ~/Projects/acme-web
Last login: today on ttys001 — this is a pretend zsh in your browser.
Type help, or click a suggestion. Nothing runs on your machine.

Steal these.

Commands people add on day one. Copy them, or drop them straight into the demo.

Ships with the app

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is QuickCMD?+
A tiny Mac menu bar app. You save shell commands once, then run them with a click and watch their live output in a popover. Think of it as bookmarks for your terminal.
Is it a subscription?+
No. $4.99, once, and it's yours. No account, nothing to renew.
Where do I download it after buying?+
Right after checkout you'll get a receipt email from Polar with the download. You can also sign in to the Polar customer portal with your email any time to download it again.
Will my PATH, nvm, Homebrew and aliases work?+
Commands run through your login shell (zsh -l), so anything set up in .zprofile and friends is there: Homebrew, nvm, pyenv, you name it.
Can it run long-running stuff like dev servers?+
Yes. Output streams live, several commands can run at the same time, and Stop ends the whole process tree, so nothing keeps squatting on your ports.
What about commands that need a password or a TTY?+
Turn on “Open in Terminal.app” for that command. It opens in a real Terminal window instead of the live preview, perfect for sudo, ssh or vim.
Where are my commands stored?+
In ~/Library/Application Support/QuickCMD as readable JSON. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Does it work on Intel Macs?+
Not right now. QuickCMD is built for Apple silicon and macOS 15 Sequoia or later.
I'm stuck. Who do I talk to?+

Stop typing. Start clicking.

Your most-used commands, one click away in the menu bar. $4.99, once.
